A Place to Rest
Front Porches have long been a place to rest, a family meeting place to recount the day, and watch the world go by. I love the idea of sitting outside and watching the kids play or the sun rise and set. This is especially true on Carlton Landing’s best porches of 2017! The peace and quiet the comes inherent with living here takes you to a place you remember before the world sped up.
With that, we give you Carlton Landing’s Best Porches of 2017! This is not an official contest (yet!), but merely one couple’s opinion that is based on which ones we have sat on and which ones we just plain like because of the view, the screened porch, or the beautiful woodwork done to create it.
The Craig on Boulevard
To lead off The Best Porches of 2017, take a peek at The Craig. This has always been one of our favorites, not only for the beauty outside, but because of the people who lived there. The beauty of this porch is it’s two story porch that wraps around the north side of the home. Each side over looks the Community Garden and the lower level is screened in with a nice outdoor media set up. Take in the views of the lake, the street, or straight up Firefly Park (our kids call it butterfly park, it’s too cute to correct them). I would love to show it to you if you are in town. Fill out our Contact Form and schedule a showing when you are in town.
This home is a new addition to the community. It’s located in the Tower Courts addition and is close to the highest point, so far, in the development. Both porches are screened which provides protection from those pesky bugs that like to come sample your dinner or beverage. The view looks up the hill and will soon have a new focal point in the summer of 2018, read about that here. In short, there will be a pool view joining the other fantastic views of the lake and woods. This is one of the first houses you see when you cross the bridge into Carlton Landing and a must walk to when making the rounds.
Top of the Boardwalk
The porch on the far right is a fave due to the scenic view it currently has and the one to come. This home is located on the top of the Boardwalk and overlooks Bocce Ball Court. From the top porch, you will catch wildlife in the woods and the new Lower Greenway park. In the future, you should be able to see the sport fields and tennis courts. This location will get better and better as the community continues to develop.
Looking down through Tower Courts and in to Redbud Park, you will find porches facing porches. In our opinion, this is the epitome of New Urbanism. Small front yards with porches right on the walk that promotes community by encouraging neighbors to fellowship together. Thereby, forming lasting relationships throughout. Tower Courts will be like the other neighborhoods in Carlton Landing, a community within a community. As a bonus, Tower Courts will host the new Tower Courts Park Pool opening in the summer of 2018 (at the time of this post, this was the timeline)!
As our little town grows, we will continue to feature some great porches around town. We will always encourage you to come see for yourself, this place is amazing and a sight to behold. The buildings are beautiful, but the people are what make them a great place to live.
