The Colors of Fall
This weekend in Carlton Landing is the long awaited, and quite possibly, most enjoyable time to be here to visit. Our little town rolls out the red carpet for a Halloween Party that includes trick or treating, an awesome chili dinner, and costume contests for great prizes. In our prior Halloween Party post we laid out the timing of the events and you may peruse that one, just in case I miss something. But first things first…….
It seems as though Fall has made is appearance and is here to stay a while. Friday through Sunday weather looks like mid-50’s to 60’s for highs and high 30’s to mid 40’s for lows. Break out the Fall jackets, jeans, sweaters, and boots for the weekend trip. Bonfires will be ablaze with marshmallows roasting for S’mores.
Alfred Continues to Shine
Throughout October, we have watched a different Alfred Hitchcock movie each weekend. He does not disappoint. I remember watching these “scary” movies with my parents when I was a young lad and had forgotten what an interesting story teller and twist turner he is. So far, we have watched Rear Window and North By Northwest. Both are a time warp back to my childhood and how different things were. This Friday at 7pm, on the Park Street Lake Approach, there will be a viewing of The Birds, which is the most disturbing of the series so far, in my humble opinion. I keep hearing there will be a showing of It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, stay tuned!
A huge announcement has been declared for the Tower Courts area and we are spilling the beans, right here, right now. Our beloved town founder Grant Humphreys, told us the news on Friday night at the HOA meeting. Finally, after much speculation about where, when, and what WE ARE GETTING A NEW POOL BY NEXT SUMMER!!! We have the privilege of living close to the original pool, and if you have been here on busy summer weekends, you know how crowded the pool can get. The newest addition will be located in The Tower Courts area, but the design will be revealed in grand fashion in Saturday morning October 28th at 11am. If you want to see what the design will be like and where it will be located, join us for the big reveal. Grant will be there to answer questions and give the timeline of when it should be completed.
Let the Frightful Fun Begin!
Our Halloween Party will start off at 5:30 with trick or treating for the kiddos and last for about an hour. Homeowners that are handing out candy will leave their porch lights on as a signal to get the goodies. Once the cavity creating goodies are secured, head on down to The Town Green for the Chili Dinner and Costume Contest at 6:30. If you have a Chili recipe you would like to prepare or are especially good at providing chips, dinner ware, or beverages, sign up here and let us know what you might bring! Once bellies are full the judges will be lining up the contestants for the first costume contest. There are prizes for the best kids costume and adult costume. It should be quite entertaining and a good time to get to know your neighbors and meet the new families that join us every week.
Sunday Morning Fellowship
After the full schedule on Saturday, get some sleep, but join us at Carlton Landing Community Church for a special worship and message. Guest worship leaders Wes & Amy Gillett will lead worship and Pastor Brandon Scott will continue his series on finding joy in suffering. If you missed the first two messages, not to worry, Brandon is great at catching you up. Services start at 10am (ish) in the church tent across from The Town Green.
